Magnolia and alfresco are the two best open source content management sytems to date.
Magnolia is mature and has a lot of following with good features.
Alfresco is releatively new but has the backing of best content management experience behind it.
Alfresco has been launched by the documentum people.
Documentum is the best proprietory content management system.
