Joomla is a site framework... I use XAMPP. You can likely fit your old site into Joomla in a number of ways. You can take the content and place it into the content management parts you want to use. Any other parts that don't fit might have a plugin like the bbs systems or blogs out there, alternatively you can put your stuff in a managed frame in joomla. Another way to integrate would be to put the joomla parts in a sub-directory but that won't make much sense unless you want to run multiple sites as the framework is meant to manage the links, sidebars etc.
